CNC Machining Aluminum Materials

Aluminum stands out as a highly sought-after material in CNC Machining due to its favorable characteristics. It possesses a low density, excellent thermal and electrical conductivity, as well as high corrosion resistance. Consequently, aluminum finds extensive usage across diverse industries, including aerospace, automotive, electrical, medical, and optical instrument sectors.

Aluminum 6082 | 3.2315 | AlSi1MgMn

Very Similar composition and properties to 6061. But is commonly heat treated to produce tempers with a higher strength but lower ductility and typically formed by extrusion and rolling.

Aluminum 5083-H111 | 3.3547 | AlMg4.5Mn0.7

It is well-known for exceptional performance in extremely Tough environments, Such as Sea Water. Excellent corrosion resistance Performance. It’s ideal for Marine and industrial chemical Applications. Can be Welded.

Aluminum 6063 | EN AW-6063 | AlMg0,7Si

Good mechanical properties and is heat treatable and weldable. It allows forming of complex shapes with very smooth surfaces fit for anodizing. Suitable for Aerospace applications.

Aluminum 5052 | EN AW-5052 | 3.3523 | AlMg2,5

5052 is an aluminum alloy, primarily alloyed with magnesium and chromium. Exceptional Corrosion Resistance Performance against seawater and salt spray.Main Used in Marine Applications

Aluminum 2024-T351 | 3.1355 | AlCu4Mg1

2024 aluminum alloy is an aluminum alloy that uses copper as the primary alloying element with High Strength and Weight Ratio and Good Fatigue Resistance. Can be Welded but Poor Corrosion Resistance.

Aluminum 7050 | EN AW-7050 | AlZn6CuMgZr

It is featured high toughness, strength, and high-stress Corrosion Cracking resistance. Great Electric Conductivity performance. It is well-known as a commercial aerospace alloy.

Aluminum MIC6

MIC6 Cast from 7000 Series Aluminum. Then stress is relieved to maintain dimensional stability during high-speed machining—suits for applications where consistent flatness and tight tolerances are critical.

Aluminum 6082-T651 | 3.2315 | AlSi1MgMn

6082 has a very similar composition and properties to 6061. Still, it is commonly heat treated to produce tempers with a higher strength but lower ductility and is typically formed by extrusion and rolling.

Aluminum 2017 | 3.1325 | AlCu4MgSi

Aluminum 2017 is a heat-treatable wrought alloy with medium strength. But harder to Machine. Workability is fair, with ductility and formability better than aluminum 2014: great Arc and resistance weldability.

Aluminum 7075-T651 | 3.4365 | AlZn5.5MgCu

7075 has excellent mechanical properties and exhibits good Flexibility, Strength, toughness, and Fatigue Resistance. Corrosion-Resistant ability is better than the 2000 Series. Ideal for Aircraft Parts.

Aluminum 2014 | 3.1255 | AlCu4SiMg

Aluminum 2014 is Easy to Machine and can be hardened to a strength like Steel. But the corrosion resistance of this alloy is particularly poor. And hard to Weld—ideal for Aerospace Applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

CNC Aluminum machining is a manufacturing process that involves cutting a piece of raw Aluminum until a final desired shape or object remains. CNC machines cut unwanted geometries away from a natural block of Aluminum using a CNC (computer numerically controlled) machine tool. These machines are exact, allowing for high accuracy and part complexity.

The Cost of Aluminum CNC Machining depends on the following factors: Aluminum types, the shape of the parts(simple or complex geometries), tolerances, and part size.
STCNC will always help Minimum the cost of each Part for our customers.

Aluminum is commonly used in many industries, such as aerospace (turbine blades), automotive manufacturing (Car engines), and 3C consumer electronics (speaker enclosures), due to its excellent machinability, high corrosion resistance, and good ductility.

Aluminum 6061-T6 is one of the most commonly used Aluminum Types in CNC Machining due to its good formability, Weldability, and Excellent strength-to-weight ratio.
